Wallhausen is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland-Palatinate, in western Germany. The town is known for quaint, family-operated, wineries and its connectivity to walking paths around the Nahe wine region. == History == From various sources the initial mentions in the documentation is either in the year 1195 by the Bishopric of Speyer, or in the year 1021 after which a Frankish compatriot built a "Waldhus" (Forest house) A church of in Wallenhausen was mentioned in 1219. On the May 1, 1219 the mayor and the municipality to Wallenhausen was authorized by the Godebold of Weyerbach. Today the Roman Catholic Church is named St. Lawrence. It was built in 1792. The church has branches two nearby villages of Dalberg and Sommerloch. A school teacher in Wallenhausen was first mentioned in a report on a church visitation from 1790. His annual salary was 15 bushels of corn and 30 guilders. In Wallenhausen is the castle of the Dalberg family, former (Kämmerer) treasurer of Worms. Today the castle is owned by the Prince of Salm-Salm.
